  • Jennifer H,

I nominate my mom. I have two children with Autism and I don’t know how I would do it without her. She watches them occasionally so my husband and I can get away. She also is their biggest cheerleader.

My mother is an absolute original!! She taught me about JOY and the importance of LIVING life and service to others. She LOVES life and gardening and is committed to social justice. She dragged me to homeless shelters when I was a spoiled, self centered teenager, and asked me to work in the soup kitchen that she started in her 70’s. She is a tireless volunteer and advocate. She personifies J’oi de vivre and unconditional love. She is so light hearted that I know she will lift my spirits if I am having a bad day. I am so grateful to be Ginger’s daughter!!!!!

I nominate my mother in law. She treats me like I am her own and goes out of her way to help.

My favorite mother role is my aunt…. and my mom can’t choose haha. Growing up my mother had to work very hard to maintain her family and while she was working 6am-5pm my aunt would be the “mother” role. I grew up and he had kids of her own now but still we all love spending time with each other.

My mom has struggled with mental and physical illnesses her entire life and yet, despite her set backs and up hill battles, she has always been determined to be the best mom she could be. I’m grateful for her! She has shown me what it means to have strength even in weakness.
